COLOR THEORY CHOREOGRAPHER SPOTLIGHT: Legendary hip hop dancer, instructor and choreographer Jared Jenkins of NYC is bringing an electric flair to MSA’s The Company Project: COLOR THEORY! Jenkins has created a high-energy hip hop piece inspired by the color yellow – think long days, warm sunshine, the last day of school, and the sweet promise of a long summer vacation of freedom ahead! JARED JENKINS is originally from Philadelphia, PA, but now resides in New York, NY. After graduating from Georgetown University in 2006 with a degree in Finance, Jared decided to explore dance and take his first dance class. Since then, Jared has had the opportunity to train with the top choreographers in the industry, dance with Culture Shock DC Dance Troupe, LRMP, Capitol Movement Project, and dance/choreograph for Georgetown’s University’s Hip-Hop team, Groove Theory. His current dance credits include Cirque Du Soleil, Touchstone Picture’s “Step-up 2: The Streets”, VH1’s “Save the Music,” New York City’s Fashion Week, and Carnival: The Choreographer’s Ball. Jared has had the opportunity to teach all over the United States and has showcased his choreography in venues such as World of Dance and Rhapsody James’ Sirens After Dark. Currently, Jared is a part of Rhapsody James’ Motivating Excellence Program, where he is receiving the training and tools to further his commercial dance career.
