The Open House event will begin at 9:00 am with an information session. The Open House event will begin at 9:00 am with an information session. Following the information session prospective students are invited to attend master classes with Jose de la Cuesta and Randy Snight along side our Academy students.
Jose’s master class will focus on the performance aspect of theater jazz by encouraging students to tell a story through their dance. Class will include a jazz warmup and lots of time to learn and perform exciting choreography set to a music theater song.
Randy’s master class will focus on the unique aspects of physical theater, incorporating acting, improvisation, mime and dance. This one-of-kind experience fully engages students, teaching them a highly adaptable physical awareness that is transferable to a variety of performance styles and methods.
JOSE de la CUESTA is a well-known director/choreographer living in NY. Credits include: “A Chorus Line”, “Sugar Babies”, “West Side Story”, and “42nd Street”. His work has been performed at Carnegie Hall twice. He wrote and directory an original production called “A Funky Fairytale” for Trumps Casino in Atlantic City which was critically acclaimed and held over twice. He received the prestigious Carbonnell Awad for best choreographer for The Broward Stage Door Production of “42nd Street”. As a performer Jose has worked in all areas of performing and has toured extensively in the United States and Internationally. He has also worked with such stars as Chita Rivera, Barbara Eden, Brooke Shields, and Lonnie Anderson among others. He is also a renowned teacher and has worked at several studios and universities nationwide and is currently on the staff of Broadway Dance Center. He is a former professor of dance at Farleigh Dickinson University. Additionally, Jose was the resident director/choregrapher for Hersheypark for many years and wrote many of their shows. His work there won several awards for Best Themepark Shows in the country and internationally. He most recently direct a hit production of “South Pacific” and is starting a production of “Titanic” as well as an original nightclub show he created, “All That Jazz” based on the music of Kander and Ebb.
Randy Snight holds a B.A. in Dance Performance from Winthrop University. He is an active member of the DC Metropolitan theater community performing, teaching, choreographing, and managing different projects at Adventure Theater, Bowen McCauley Dance, the Educational Theater Company and Synetic Theater. His favorite roles include the Ensemble in Urban Arias’s Photo Op, the Elements/Aerialist in Synetic’s The Rough Faced Girl, and Nikki Neutron in Conserving Up Comedy with the National Theater for Children.
