2027 Spring Production: Journey: Life is a Highway

Experience Journey: Life Is a Highway, the Metropolitan School of the Arts End-of-Year Production. Each year, this special production brings together more than 600 MSA performers, ages 3 to 18. It is the only MSA production that features all youth dance disciplines in one event. Students in ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, musical theater, acting, voice, and hip hop take the stage for an unforgettable celebration of movement, music, and storytelling.

The story begins on graduation day. A group of friends celebrates the end of high school with family, classmates, and teachers. Soon, college will take them in different directions. So, they decide to make the most of one final summer together with a road trip across the country.

Inspired by Electronic Superhighway by Nam June Paik, an artwork at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Journey: Life Is a Highway uses the image of a glowing, ever-changing roadway to represent movement and connection. Along the way, the friends experience new places, new people, and new possibilities. Their road trip becomes a journey of discovery and new beginnings.

The Metropolitan School of the Arts End-of-Year Production celebrates the roads we travel and the people who journey beside us. Most of all, it celebrates the possibilities waiting just beyond the horizon.

Life is a highway. The journey starts here.

Show Dates: June 17-20, 2027
