Melissa Bastidas has been dancing since she was 7 years old. She has been teaching all styles of dance at her home studio in Dutchess County New York since 2010, where she also choreographs for that studio’s pre-professional performance groups
Melissa’s forte is tap, and she has trained with many of today’s tap professionals through private lessons, master classes, intensives, workshops, and camps. Some of her favorites include Derick Grant, Jason Janas, Chloe Arnold, Jason Samuals Smith, Michelle Dorrance, AyodelCasel, and Mike Minery, in addition to many others. Melissa has extensive performance experience ranging from dance competitions to youth tap company performances at venues such as the New York City Tap Festival, Tap Kids, and the United Nations. Additionally, she was cast in a professional Tap Cabaret “Rhythm Is Our Business”, choreographed by Derick K. Grant, and performed in this show during its run in New York City in 2013.
Melissa is a recent graduate from SUNY Oneonta where she earned her degree in early childhood/elementary education.
