Participation in Metropolitan School of the Arts Ensemble is by audition only. The Ensemble is a highly motivated and talented group of students who will perform as the main characters in the Spring Production as well as a group of dancers who carry the storyline of the show through key dance pieces. The Ensemble will be comprised of students varying in technical ability and level. Students will be assigned as characters and/or to dance pieces based on the assignment of the directors and choreographers. Students selected to participate in the Ensemble must demonstrate a high degree of technical proficiency, exuberant stage presence, and a positive working attitude. We may or may not choose to have specific characters perform select vocal pieces in our performance. This decision will be based on auditions.
There will be no formally scheduled make-up audition, however, if you are interested in auditioning for Wreck It! 2019 and are unable to attend the scheduled auditions, please fill out an audition application and notate your special circumstances in the space provided. Your application must be turned in by the deadline to be considered for a make-up audition.
If you are auditioning for experience ONLY, please mark the appropriate box on your audition form. Please prepare your child for the audition process. During this audition, you may be asked to sing a select piece of music or read scenes from the script. Not all students auditioning will be placed in the Ensemble.
All students wishing to audition (including Conservatory Tap & Jazz students) must complete and submit the online application form by Saturday, December 22nd at 8:00 p.m. After this time, applicants will be required to complete a paper form at the front desk and pay a $10 late fee in order to audition. AUDITION EXPECTATIONS and ACCEPTANCE OF ROLES
When you audition for the Ensemble, you are expected to remain professional and courteous during the entire audition process, especially upon the posting of the cast. As always, if you have any questions about your audition, we are happy to provide feedback. If you audition as a member of the Ensemble, you must participate in ALL pieces and/or character roles you are assigned. A student may not choose to decline a specific piece or role as choreographers and directors assume they are casting a finalized cast upon auditions. If you are only interested in participating in a limited number of Ensemble dances or do not wish to audition for a character role, please note your request on your audition form.
Rehearsals for the Ensemble will be scheduled during any of the following times: 8:00-10:30 p.m. on select Fridays, 6:30-10:30 p.m. on select Saturdays, and some Sunday afternoons when necessary. Additional rehearsals may be added as we approach the performances. Ensemble rehearsals are choreography based. Students are expected to learn, execute, and perfect dances in short periods of time; therefore, consistent attendance is imperative. All conflicts stated on the audition form will be excused. Additional conflicts may result in loss or re-casting of role. Dancers with unexcused absences will not be eligible to perform.
Looking forward to seeing you at the audition!!
