MetroiMprov provides an environment for dedicated students to explore both short and long-form improvisation at an advanced level. The ensemble trains together for 90 minutes each week, and performs a minimum of 3 times throughout the year: twice in their own evening showcases and once as a part of the Spring Acting Recital. Our rehearsals include warm-ups, studying improvisation theory, learning the formats to different improv performance games, critiquing work, and creating the “groupthink” and ensemble trust necessary to play at the highest level of improv. Guest instructors and coaches from DC’s professional improv scene are brought in occasionally throughout the year to give troupe members an outside lens to the improv world and their own development as a troupe.
** Note: We are not a Comedysportz-based program and do not teach or compete according to their methodologies.
