This workshop is designed to provide the dancer with tools to stay healthy before, during, and after high intensity dance schedules. We will begin by reviewing the physical and emotional demands on the body during rehearsal/performance season and discuss ways to prevent injury by properly warming up, cooling down, cross training, and adjusting your work outs to prevent overtraining. We will then review how to maintain fitness during the off season (most often Summer) and discuss how to care for our bodies if an injury occurs. Last, we will briefly cover the nutritional demands placed on a dancer’s body and provide recommendations for caloric intake and healthy food options to properly fuel the dancer’s body.
